How to Spend $50,000 on a New Elementary School Library
I've never had the privilege/challenge of spending $50,000 on children's books—no serials or AV—in a single weekend (as happened to a friend of a friend), but going off the top of my head, this is how I'd start putting a dent in the funds. What would you add to this list?

Caldecott Award
I'd probably buy the past 10 years' winners and honor books, the past 50 years' winners, and any older titles that are known to be classics.

Reference Materials
I'd buy some bibliographies like Best Books for Children, maybe some series on the elements and endangered species, World Book and/or the New Book of Knowledge, at least one unabridged dictionary.

Don't forget Arnold Lobel for easy readers! For nonfiction I might add the Pebble Plus books from Capstone (another easy reader series with great pictures. The kids in my library love 'em) and the following nonfiction authors:
