"Different Families" Book Display
November 3rd, 2008
Here's the promised book display to highlight our new GLBTQ list. "Different Families / Same Love"—that goopy enough for you?
The lit holder has copies of our Gay and Lesbian, Adoption, and Celebrate Diversity lists. And the books are a selection of picture books from those lists!

Sorry for the crummy (as usual) photos. I'd blame the camera, but—no, actually, I'll just blame the camera.

i'm planning to stop by sometime this week--i know i'm going to need to check out that display.
Huzzah! If you give me a head's up, I'll try to make sure I'm around. Better yet, wanna get lunch?
I LOVE your display, and it's not too goopy - in fact it's right on target! "Different Families / Same Love" is pretty much a beautiful summation of what we're fighting for.
Thank you for doing such important work - just including books about characters/children with Gay families is a HUGE step towards the future!
with a BIG hug,
Lee
Yay, Lee, and thanks!
I was thinking of you and your family this week when we got our new copy of King & King & Family. My boss wanted to know whether we should shelve it in the regular picture book section or the parent/teacher section. I'm happy to say we put it where it belongs: with the other picture books!
I wish I could say the same for King & King; apparently (before my time) it started out with the regular picture books, and a patron complaint landed it in the parent/teacher section. At least I can put it on our recommended list and pull it out for displays like this one. Not perfect, but it's a start.
